CECELIA BRUGGEMEYER
LONDON HANDEL PLAYERS
Cecelia Bruggemeyer is in much demand in the freelance world of Historically Informed Performance. As well as being a member of London Handel Players she is a member of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE), Principal bass for the London Handel Orchestra and The Mozartists, and has played with the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique for many years. She also receives regular invitations to guest with many other orchestras and ensembles.
Cecelia grew up in London, taking up the bass aged 11 when she earned a place at the Centre for Young Musicians. Her studies then took her to the Royal Academy of Music where she won the Eugene Cruft double bass prize, and where she first became interested in the world of Historical Performance (HP) through projects with Roy Goodman. This led to a year as the bassist with the European Union Baroque Orchestra which was quickly followed by professional invitations.
As well as performing Cecelia also teaches and mentors at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music, and is very involved in the OAE’s education work, devising projects for under 5s, leading workshops in schools, and presenting concerts.
